Train, eat, sleep, and repeat – driven by the dream of becoming a world champion and Olympic medalist.
Every day, this is the mantra of Austrian biathlete Anna Gandler.

"Since I was little, my goal has been to be a world champion and Olympic medalist. Antholz (where the biathlon competitions of the 2026 Winter Olympics will take place) is the big goal for me. I don't want to be there, just to be there - I want to compete for medals. I'm already a bit nervous because the Olympics only come every four years, and everything has to go perfectly on that day".

"In Biathlon, shooting is very important, because you can be an incredibly fast runner, but if you miss your shots, then you have no chance – because the penalty loop is 150 meters. We try to train for this in practice, but it’s not always that easy because in competition there’s added stress and the crowd. Also, you know you have only 10 or sometimes 20 bullets and if you miss them, then it’s over. You don’t have a second chance".

"I always get this question: what do you prefer, shooting or cross-country skiing? But as biathletes, we have to do both. We train a lot—twice a day, 15 times a week. Over a year, we have between 700 and 800 hours of training. Train, eat, sleep, and then repeat.".
