KASK WINS RAINBOW AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2021 UCI World Championships saw huge victories for KASK with four outstanding rainbow jersey wins from Filippo Ganna, Elisa Balsamo, Filippo Baroncini and Alena Ivanchenko.

Running through the Flanders region, the 94th edition of the World Championships returned to one of its founding countries this month, bringing together the world’s greatest cyclists in an exciting battle for the renowned rainbow jersey. 

Defending his World Champion title, INEOS Grenadiers own Filippo Ganna powered through the Flemish region and took the win on the opening day, in the men's elite time trial, his second victory in the last two years. 

In the women’s elite road race, Italian Elisa Balsamo timed her sprint to perfection in the final meters of the stage. Following an incredible lead out by Elisa Longo-Borghini, Balsamo claimed the rainbow jersey and her first elite victory. 

Filippo Baroncini was triumphant in the U23 road race, launching a ferocious attack on the penultimate climb, and riding to victory in Leuven. The 21 year old crossed the finish line in a monumental dash securing his title as the U23 World Champion.

Alena Ivanchenko propelled to victory, claiming the World Championship title in the junior women’s time trial.
