KASK CROSSES OVER TO THE MUDDY SIDE

KASK announce a new cyclo-cross partnership with Nikki Brammeier’s MUDIIITA Cycling Team with a focus on youth development

Global helmet brand KASK has joined forces with MUDIIITA Cycling Team for the 2018/19 season. MUDIIITA’s Nikki Brammeier (GBR) will wear KASK’s leading helmets Valegro and Protone throughout the cyclo-cross (CX) season.

Brammeier, winner of the 2015 Namur World Cup, three-time National Champion and 2016 Rio Olympian, launched the MUDIIITA cyclo-cross project in 2017, creating a team for herself while helping to grow the sport in the UK, inspiring more people – focusing on juniors and U23s in particular – into CX and racing.

MUDIIITA strides to make the sport more accessible and achievable to younger riders and the project helps these youngsters to progress through to the top tier of CX via training camps and scholarship schemes.

Brammeier will ride in KASK while competing in the major competitions this season, including the Koksijde World Cup (November 25th 2018), Superprestige Zonhoven (December 16th 2018) and the World Championships (February 2nd 2019).

Both the Valegro and Protone helmets offer superior aerodynamics, comfort and ventilation – important and sometimes, overlooked, necessities in the high-intensity sport of CX. Launched earlier this year, Valegro is the lightest aero helmet in KASK’s extensive range thanks to its unrivalled ventilation system. Weighing in at just 180g (size S), Valegro would be Brammeier’s preferred choice in the hotter or more humid races this season.

With a focus on aerodynamics, the popular Protone takes into account the cyclist’s posture and how they behave while riding. Months of scientific research and design means that this helmet is aero down to the smallest detail; for example, the rider can insert their sunglasses into the helmet mid-race without increasing drag.

Speaking of the new partnership with KASK, Brammeier said: “I’m really excited to have KASK come on board to partner up with MUDIIITA. I’m grateful for the support and enthusiasm they have shared in the project and also myself – to get this kind of support from a partner is really something special. For me it’s essential to have a high-quality helmet brand on board; in cycling, crashes happen all too often, so knowing I have the support of KASK means I can focus on my racing form.”

Ylenia Battistello, KASK’s Cycling Brand Manager, said: “What the MUDIIITA cyclo-cross project is striving to achieve for young riders in the UK is fantastic, and we are so proud to be able to support Nikki and the team’s work in helping get more people into the sport. Safety should never be a reason for youngsters not to give CX, or cycling, a try; our helmets are developed to the highest standards of safety, and together with Nikki and MUDIIITA, we endeavour to grow the numbers of kids and young adults participating.”
